We can’t give much away about this one, but it looks like there is going to be an Android-based electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) system announced within the next few days.
The company behind the device is inviting developers to submit ideas for retail apps to their site (www.thehighstreetstrikesback.com) in exchange for prizes and the chance of having their app feature on the device.
The possibility of High Street shops running Android apps on the tills is an exciting one – think about the possibilities of loyalty cards that sync with shoppers’ Facebook accounts, shopping or paying with your phone and then wirelessly receiving your receipt, being able to see when shoppers check in on Foursquare, or even the ability to quickly roll out NFC…
The opportunities are endless.
