Simon Briggs

Simon has nearly 20 years experience in the IT industry after starting out as a junior Unix system admins and then into software support, initially focused on Windows and Unix/Linux systems management and ITSM. Though, as He enjoyed presenting and meeting people, the lions share of his career has been in Pre-Sales roles, this background affording him the opportunity to join SUSE over 5 years ago. Working as UK SUSE Solutions Architect and since January 1st, he has now happily become the full time EMEA Lead Solutions Architect for SUSE OpenStack Cloud.

He is a keen advocate of Open Source and standards and what this offers society, frequently speaking in meet ups on related subjects having presented at the London, Netherlands and Oslo OpenStack meetup's and more general Linux sessions. He was also able to speak at the Openstack Benelux and Paris conferences in 2014.

As a family man Simon also feel passionate that we need to help educate our next generations and have spoken on these topics at some UK universities, hoping to keep the momentum of Open Source going.

Away from technology he is keen on sport, active in cricket, cycling, running and snowboarding whilst following football. He also volunteers to help events and was a Games Maker for London and Tour Maker for the Tour de France Grand depart in Yorkshire. He goes to music festivals when he can and enjoys history.
