In this talk Dave will share with you how his Team at ZeroLight use NodeJS and MongoDB to efficiently manage render farms to produce millions of actually needed images out of a potential search space of hundreds of quadrillions of images. Specifically, Dave will explore with you real-world use-cases of rendering images for car configurators, where the cars have huge numbers of potential configurations. Thanks to the use of analogies - to help make clear the scale of the problem, you will discover some of the challenges (and some of the answers) of dealing with such huge potential search-spaces in a performant manner. You will also learn about the ramifications on image caching, both speculative and historical, as well as the issues around meaningful invalidation.
