Lightning Talks 1

Andrew Gustafson

Gus previously worked as a java developer in finance and media, experiencing all of the delights that come with over-engineering a large XML-configured application. He has spent the last few years writing scala apps and playing buzzword bingo in startups. Currently he is a Senior Scala Developer/Technical Architect at Depop, a social selling app.

Jamie Pullar

Jamie is a senior developer in Concentra's Product Development Team. Having spent the last 4 years developing services in Scala, Jamie has been focused on taking service orientated architecture patterns into the functional space. Hailing from a background in maths, he seems to take a perverse pleasure in finding new ways to abstract problems. Most of his work is in back-end services and modelling.

Nick Pollard

I started learning Scala almost 4 years ago, quickly getting to grips with the more functional aspects and developing an appetite for the type-level programming styles it enables. I have been writing Scala in Industry full-time since early 2013, and pushed Scala heavily at my previous organisation (Scotiabank). I am active in the Scala open source community, especially with the Typelevel organization.

Mikael Valot

Mikael has been programming in Scala for the last 4 years in the UK financial sector, after many years using Java. French born, he has had various work experiences in France, Switzerland and the UK.
