Last spring the geek in me got tempted to grab 5 battery- and wireless valve regulators for our appartements radiators. I had already checked that I should be able to communicate with these using a Raspberry Pi module, but the details of how to get this up and running was still uncertain as winter approcached and the tempearture in the appartement slowely started to descend. This is the story of creating a quite usefull functional reactive application with Scala and Akka and interacting with Raspberry Pi's serial port.
