Android became public on November 5th, 2007. That means it’ll be 5 years of Android this November! Can’t let this go by unnoticed! So the GDGs(/GTUGs/AUGs) decided to organize an Android app hackathon tournament specifically for this cause.
In September or October you can participate in a local hackathon organised by your GDG. Each winning team receives a chance to defend their user group in a final European hackathon in London just after Droidcon. We pay your flight and hotel. This Best-of-the-Best hackathon takes place on the weekend of October 26th-28th, right after Droidcon London.
These are the locations that will host hackathons:
Amsterdam - September 14-16th - +V hack Android Netherlands
Bremen - September 15th V Hack Android Bremen
Brussels - October 5-7 -V Hack Android Brussels
Ankara & Istanbul - October 13th - V Hack Android Ankara
Berlin - October 13-14th -GDG Berlin GDG Android in Berlin
Paris -October 12-14 -V Hack Android Paris
The final will be held in London – October 26-28th
Friday 26: 8pm-10pm kick-off and dinner!
Saturday 27: 9->all night: code
Sunday 28: 1PM Presentation and winning ceremony!
London will have a special treatment, and we’ll accept everyone to join the final. If you’re coming to Droidcon this is a good reason to stay for the week end, if you’re not (but really why aren’t you) you can still join the hackathon.

Sony has a wide variety of products that stretches over whole spectrum of home entertainment. As a developer, one of the key success factors in the future will be to offer smart and innovative multi screen experiences. Already today we have a several Android enabled screens for your apps and services to run on, such as our Xperia™ smartphones, smart extras (accessories), tablets and Google TV boxes. This enables you to create services and experiences that nobody hasn’t even thought of yet. So we’re asking you to come up with an app or service (or prototype) that makes innovative use of multiple screens (not only mirroring). Are you up for the challenge?

RNIB is sponsoring a £500 prize that will be awarded to the creators of an app that best demonstrates the principles of accessibility for blind and partially sighted users, and that, in the opinion of the judges, provides an innovative solution that will be most welcomed by blind and partially sighted users. accessibility issues.
